netconvert in sumo

i am using sumo as a network simulator in omnet+ using veins 

when i imported an osm file from the net and by using the netconvert command to obtain the .net.xml file it gives an error 

"could not build output file "

why is that ?

i folllowed the example nodes and edges files already available with the sumo package .

such questions are much better discussed on the SUMO mailing list.

Netconvert is part of SUMO, so you will find all experts there!
