LMAC layer in omnet++

I am currently studying lmac protocol and its lmac layer in src-->modules-->mac-->lmaclayer

I came across with certain statements like.

for(i<0; i<numslots ; i++)

{

occSlotsDirect [i[=LMAC_FREE_SLOT;

occSlotsAway [i]=LMAC_FREE_SLOT;

}

dont get meaning of it what this statement is doing ?
