How shall I implement a varying number of clients, to reflect the load of a network during daytime?

Hi everyone,

at the moment I'm thinking hard, how to implement the usage of my data center varying on the load. Usually the load is higher through midday than in the night.

Every client is represented by a traffic generation module. At the moment I'm using a fix amount of clients, which is set at the start. But after simulating some time,
I'm reaching a steady state, so I want to go the next step.

I had the idea to add modules on the fly varying on the time that has passed, which I think is not possible, isn't it?

It also crossed my mind to set the maximum number of users I will have and using only a percentage depending on the simtime. But I'm not sure how to tell only
a group of modules when to start sending packets.

Should I make groups of modules, filled with the low, mid and highest number of clients and activate each one separately?

Has anyone an idea, how to make the transition between these numbers a slow transition to prevent activating all the new clients at once?

Maybe someone can give me a hint with this brain writing : )

Best regards,

Michael
