Hello everyone,

I'm using Omnetpp 4.5 with INET 2.4 on Windows 7 (64 bit).

I built a quite large network with over 1000 nodes that generate Ethernet frames in microsecond-intervals (with jitter). The nodes are connected by using switches in different topologies.
My target is analysing the switch queues (queue time and length...).

Obviously running the simulation with different parameters leads to total result data in GB ranges (*.sca, *.vci and *.vec). When I try to open these results in Omnetpp IDE (created anf with predefined data sets) the IDE hangs (not responding) and I have to kill the omnetpp.exe process in the task manager.
-> My assumption was that this large data sets cannot be processed, however, therefore I revised my omnetpp.ini file and enabled result recording only for the scalars and vectors I'm interested in.
This reduced the result data size dramatically :) however, still Omnetpp IDE decides to freeze (Not responding) and I have to kill the process in the task manager. Before I do this I checked the process CPU and memory, which stays at 13 % and ~400 MB constantly for minutes.

Btw, I have an i7-3770 3.4 GHz and 16 GB RAM - should be sufficient right?

Is there any known issue with the analysis tool in the simulation IDE? Or any limit (e.g. nodes in the simulation or total results file size) I have to consider, or maybe any settings I have to tune to handle results with larger data sizes?

Thanks & regards,
Max
