Hello,
I wonder if somebody knows how to calculate the packet loss probability by using the channel parameters we use in omnet's ini files (ie. p2p.ini).

I will appreciate if you can give me some reference reading.

Best regards,
Onur.

What are you talking about?
If it is the p2p network of the mobility framework packet error probability
depends on the length of your message. omnetpp.ini specifies the bit error
probability and from that you can calculate the packet error probability...

Channel control and the physical layer have some parameters like;
channelcontrol.carrierFrequency = 868e+6
# max transmission power [mW]
channelcontrol.pMax = 1.5
# signal attenuation threshold [dBm]
channelcontrol.sat = -110
# path loss coefficient alpha
channelcontrol.alpha = 3.5

# AirFrame header length
host[*].nic.phy.headerLength=16
# bitrate [bits/s]
host[*].nic.phy.bitrate=10000
# transmission power [mW]
host[*].nic.phy.transmitterPower=1; in mW
# bit error probability
host[*].nic.phy.pBit=550e-4

All
these parameters affect the connectivity and packet loss probability.
What I am asking is; how can I formulate these parameters to end-up
with a single packet loss probability.??

Thanks,
Onur.

Daniel

No, this parameters affect to the packet error probability, not the lost probability packet. The lost probability also depend of the packet collision, that depend of traffic, separation, between nodes, mac parameters, routing algorithm, queues size, .......

If you can discover a expresion that can compute the cell lost probability with all this parameters, GUAUU!!!!!

Well, than let's make it make it packet error probability. I am assuming there is no collision or an underlying mac. Just the probability of a transmitted packet to become useless between two neighboring nodes.

Onur.
