Hello community,

I am new to simulte and I am trying to understand the use of codewords in the project. I noticed that the concept of codeword is heavily used in the scheduler and in the Harq buffers / processes. My rather limited understanding of codewords is in the context of PHY channel coding, where a codeword is the result of coding a transport block from the MAC layer.

My questions are as follows:

    1. how are codewords used in the scheduler related to the PHY layer codeword concept?
    2. how are codewords used in the Harq context related to the PHY layer codeword concept?
    3. What is the meaning of codewords in the above mentioned contexts?
    4. are there resources I can read to get a better understanding on the use of codewords?

A bit of background: I am trying to expand the current implementation to support code block group based re transmissions similar to how 5G NR is specified, but on top of the current LTE scheduler.

Best regards,
Alexandru N. Onea
