Hi,
I try to modify AODV, but I`m not sure if the way I compute the packet
delivery ratio is correct.
Is it computed as (all received data packets)/(all packets generated
by UDP/TCP layer) or (all received data packets)/(all packets
generated by UDP/TCP AND sent by particular node) ?
I am not sure about the packets generated by higher layer, but not
sent by network layer at source node ( for example because of no route
to destination), if they should be accounted in the formula.
Thanks

Matej

Hi:

That is a very interesting question. I think it depends on what
delivery ratio are you trying to meaure. If you take the packets
generated by upper layers, you should also consider the packets
received by the upper layers, not just the packets received by the
network layer wich may be discarded or outdated.

I think you may get a better description of the behaviour of your
protocol if you do both: delivery ratio considering network layer, and
delivery ratio considering app layer or other layers. This way, you
can have a nice idea of the quality of the communication on each
layer.

Regards,

Lia.
