collecting statistics from simulation

Hello, I need help with collecting statistics in my simulation. I created simulation with server and nodes. Nodes ask server where to store data. Server pick one of nodes and verify if that node is best candidate for storing data and send response to Node who requested store operation. Server loops through this proces ones or several time until he find best match for storing data. I count this itteration and I want to collect number of attempts before send result to requesting node. (request /number of tries).

Is there some simple example of collecting statistics from simulation? thx
