execute / run files in SUMO

There are c++ files in SUMO for cfmodel and I want to try to execute any of them. Can I just directly do it or do I have to create a new file and write few codes? I tried g++ filename.cpp but didn't work.

I'm new to SUMO so I just want to try them out before starting my project. I'm also new to UBuntu. Please help.
