Hello everyone

Can someone help me by suggesting how to record traffic statistics like Average Waiting Time, Energy readings, etc in a Veins simulation?

Thank you

Hi,

You can get them from SUMO edgebased result [1].

Daniel

Hello Daniel

I added an additional file to the SUMO file set with the requisite edge data tags, but no output file is being generated in Veins. Can you help?
This is the content of my add.xml file:

<additional xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://sumo-sim.org/xsd/additional_file.xsd">

<edgeData id="trafficData" file="traffic_data"/>

<edgeData id="emissionData" type="emissions" file="emission_data" />

</additional>

Thanks

Hi,

i hope my previous question (which already answered by Dr. Sommer) could help [1]. You can use my edited version of the launcher script [2]. But please use it cautiously, since I'm not mastering python.

Regards,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel for the help. The files are indeed being generated when I am providing an absolute path. But the issue here is that the statistics are not written to the output files until SUMO has exited normally. This I found out by running SUMO independently, as data is not recorded until I close the GUI.
But when I do that in Veins, no data is being recorded still, only the configuration is getting printed to the output file in comments.
Did you face this problem as well? I used your version of sumo-launchd.py but this is happening still.

Thanks

As far as I know, this is normal.

All is went well for me. Did you finish the simulation first before checking the result file?
Was your simulation exited normally?

Daniel

Hello. Yes it did terminate normally, but when Veins finishes a simulation, it exits SUMO through a TraCI termination request. I don't know why data is not being written, though files are being generated and stored. On the other hand, if I close SUMO GUI directly without calling finish() before simulation time ends, data is being written.

After I recall my experiment settings, I found that I never use the sumo-gui for data collection. I only use the gui for validation and debugging purpose. I did that to shorter the required time. I suggest you to use the terminal mode. After all my launcher script only redirect the directory to avoid they are cleaned since I set the computer to shutdown after all simulations finished.

FYI, I used SUMO v21 and 22, OMNeT++ v4.5,4.6 and Veins 4a-1 fand Ubuntu 14.04.

Regards,
Daniel
