Hi all.

Anyone could help me on deciding which RadioMedium / Radio models to use in my Wireless simulation?

I need to use a radio medium like Ieee80211RadioMedium and compatible radio models like Ieee80211Radio. But I'm not sure which models to choose between the available options. Can anybody help me with the differences so I can decide?
  • Ieee80211DimensionalRadioMedium with Ieee80211DimensionalRadio; or
  • Ieee80211ScalarRadioMedium with Ieee80211ScalarRadio; or
  • Ieee80211LayeredScalarRadioMedium; or
  • Ieee80211LayeredDimensionalRadioMedium.

Scalar means analog signal power is represented with a scalar value over frequency and time.
Dimensional means analog signal power can change over time and frequency.
Layered means a bit precise model where the actual physical bits/symbols are encoded, corrupted, and decoded.

So, is it expected to have results closer to real world when using dimensional models? Or is it closer when using Layered Dimensional models?

BTW, do you simulate Wi-Fi? If so, please, how do you parametrize your scenario (radio medium type, path loss model, background noise, interference, tx power, rx sensitivity, etc)?

Thanks for replying me.
