गुकारश्चान्ध्कारो हि रुकारस्तेज उच्यते
अज्ञानग्रासकं ब्रह्म गुरुरेव न संशयः (guru gita)
ie, "gu" is the name for darkness, and "ru" is the name for light..
therefore He who removes the darkness of ignorance, is called a
Guru.
