Classes for Winter

A slight distraction from the HW tonight...what is everybody taking next qtr?

I'm planning on taking the following 2:

MGMT 505, 5:45 with den Nieuwenboer.
FNCE 455, 7:20 with Nguyen


Has anybody taking 505 with Nieuwenboer? Any feedback? Course load, quality of teaching, etc?

MGMT 505 is a great class.  The teacher is a bit eccentric but her classes are interesting.

My only caveat towards taking MGMT 505 is that it is not a barrier towards taking any other electives.  I would recommend taking an elective and finance.  Then leave MGMT505 for your last few quarters when scheduling two electives on the same day may be difficult.

How is the workload for MGMT 505?

Light.  Mostly class participation, group case study, and a ten page research paper.

Not too bad. You'll have to read a corporate social responsibility paper/case before each class and discuss it during class. You get graded on class participation but she also gives you credit for writing in the discussion boards if you don't speak up in class. There's a 20 min. team presentation on a CSR topic and there's an individual max. 20-25 page paper as the final (you can write less). No exams.

She's passionate about the subject - and gives her best. A bit quirky
sometimes in her opinions, nothing snobbish or rude..., in fact should
say funny... but some of us enjoyed the class despite all that. The
final paper can be a lot of work, as it is an individual paper, and
she uses turnitin site.
