I apologize if this list isn't the right place for what may be more of
a troubleshooting question, but I was wondering if anyone is
successfully running the (Simile) Timline plugin under Omeka 1.3.

What I get is "$$ is not defined" popping up on the javascript console
of multiple browsers (Webkit, Mozilla). I'm sure that jQuery is loaded
correctly, and the timeline json is showing up in the source code --
but the timeline itself is not appearing.

Unfortunately, I added the plugin after I updated to 1.3, so I can't
say for sure if it would worked in my previous setup...

We are successfully deploying it in a 1.3 install.

Can you send me the actual error message (including line number)?

That "double dollar sign" message you're getting is from some code trying to use the Prototype JavaScript library. As of Omeka 1.3, Prototype is no longer enabled by default, in favor of jQuery.

Make sure the "Enable Prototype" checkbox in your Site Settings panel is checked.

The Timeline plugin no longer uses Prototype on trunk-- it occurs to me that I need to tag out another release. Our last release was some good while ago.

I'll do that sometime before the end of the week (if someone else from Virginia doesn't beat me to it) and any issues with Prototype should go away.

Good to hear that it should be working -- I've enabled Prototype and
am now getting a slightly different error in WebKit:

ReferenceError: Can't find variable: Timeline

which is occurring on line #11 of createTimeline.js

Firefox is doing something altogether more interesting, briefly
rendering the page and then collapsing everything into a 1mm square.

Here's the url of some test pages:

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi Peter,

Are you using the trunk or downloaded the plugin zip file? From what I
see on that page, the prototype libraries are getting loaded after
Timeline, which I believe is causing the issue you're seeing. Are you
using the tagged version from the addons page, or the trunk version
(https://addons.omeka.org/svn/plugins/Timeline/trunk/)?

Hi Wayne, as you correctly suspected I had actually switched over to
the trunk version after posting my last message. I'll go back to the
tagged version and see what happens...
