This study offers considerable insight into my reasons for "focusing" on issues surrounding the large variety of electric appliances, as well as telephone equipment that are often placed close to persons' beds.

Chicago, Illinois mom, Kim Montiel, mother of Jax (precious 3 yr. old son diagnosed with Leukemia - "ALL") reported to me that she and a local Baubiologist recorded extremely high magnetic fields on an air purifier that had been placed in Jax's bedroom for the purpose of improving air quality due to the small size of his bedroom.    The air purifier had been in place for much longer than a year prior to diagnosis. 

 

How many more reports of children suffering from "preventable cancers" (and other health problems such as ADD/ADHD, autism-spectrum disorders, epilepsy, immune deficiencies, Leukemia, brain cancer, asthma and more) do we need before someone with access to responsible media will take action to inform the public?   

 

The American Cancer Society has a file marked 2 RAD IRIS 2 that warns about close, bedroom electric appliance exposures.   Even they have not taken responsibility to once again inform the public.  

 

The Charity, "Children With Leukaemia" (London), while claiming to be deeply concerned about possible links between electric fields and the development of childhood Leukemia (and other cancers) remains silent in spite of considerable evidence.  

 

Are there no celebrities, charitible societies, politicians anywhere who are willing to take an honest stand and report that which has been known for more than a decade?    Kim has appealed to Oprah for publicity she hopes will help prevent similar tragedies but so far, she has been ignored in the same way my many appeals to Oprah and others in the media have fallen on deaf ears.    They are also "blind" to that which may prevent millions of health problems........

 

In this vast world of media frenzy over much of which may be the most trivial and meaningless issues facing society today, it is my opinion that selfishness, dishonesty, greed and ignorance prevail on every level.  U.S. politicians talk about "responsiblilty and change."    Who will make it happen?  

 

Praying for a better tomorrow for all the "little Jax's" -- and also all the Michael Boyum's (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia death at age 23 -- see my website:   www.guineapigsrus.org  )  as well as children suffering preventable immune deficiencies ( my two grandsons -- electric meter exposures), and the millions of other children and parents "who do not know......."     -    Take care  -  Joanne

In daily life as well as at workplaces, exposures to inhomogeneous magnetic fields become very frequent. This makes easily applicable compliance assessment methods increasingly important. Reference levels have been defined linking basic restrictions to levels of homogeneous fields at worst-case exposure conditions. If reference levels are met, compliance with basic restrictions can be assumed. If not, further investigations could still prove compliance. Because of the lower induction efficiency, inhomogeneous magnetic fields such as from electric appliances could be allowed exceeding reference levels. To easily assess inhomogeneous magnetic fields, a quick and flexible multi-step assessment procedure is proposed. On the basis of simulations with numerical, anatomical human models reference factors were calculated elevating reference levels to link hot-spot values measured at source surfaces to basic limits and allowing accounting for different source distance, size, orientation and position. Compliance rules are proposed minimising assessment efforts.   [ emphasis added by jcm....]
