California Department of Public Health Releases its Cellphone Safety Document

Electromagnetic Radiation Safety, March 2, 2017 (6:00 PM Update)

Prior to the judge's final ruling in Moskowitz v. CDPH, the California Department of Public Health released its cellphone safety document to the San Francisco Chronicle this afternoon.

This "fact sheet" summarizes research on cell phone radiation health risks and provides safety tips on how to reduce cell phone radiation exposure. The document highlights a potentially greater risk to "pregnant women, children, and teens." The safety recommendations are similar to those issued by the Connecticut Department of Public Health in May, 2015.

The CDPH document is marked "
released pursuant to Moskowitz v. CDPH, Sac. Super. Ct. No. 34-2016-8000-2358" and "Draft and Not for Public Release."

The document and details about the case are available at http://bit.ly/CDPHsafer.

Dr. Ann Lee, MD, tells about her 7-yr old son who gets chest pains whenever he visited the public library's 2nd floor with wi-fi.  She found many studies showing adverse biological effects from wireless radiation on children who developed nausea, headaches, skin rashes, chest pain after their schools installed wi-fi networks.  Also other studies showing increased stress proteins, increased DNA fragmentation in sperm, increased brain cancer, link to autism, EHS symptoms such as impaired memory, concentration difficulties, headaches, sleeping problems  Other school district LAUSD has established wireless exposure limits that are 1/10,000 of FCC limits.  Precautions taken by other countries such as France, banning wi-fi in preschools and turning it off in elementary schools when not in use.

Many members of the public participated in Council meetings and contributed documentation relevant to these deliberations; we appreciate their input and dedication. While this report focused on WiFi radiation in schools, there are additional concerns about mobile phones and cell phone towers. CEHPAC plans to take a look at these broader issues over the next year.

Frontiers in Integrative Physiology

This new integrative health perspective connects neurotoxic and immunotoxic stressors to pain, inflammation, and sensitisation in the chronic neurological illnesses Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS).

It hints at a significant role for a range of factors in the development of such disorders, notably including: exposure to persistent environmental pollutants (e.g. heavy metals and pesticides), toxic mould fungi, and non-ionising electromagnetic fields (EMF) and radiation (EMR).

The author, Julian Glassford, is a UK-based expert patient who has himself battled with ME/CFS over a number of years. Personal experience and insights along the way helped to motivate and inform this work, and he hopes that it will help shine a light on environmental health hazards and the true nature of certain ‘invisible’ illnesses.

Besides ME/CFS and FMS, by extension his work further pertains to other, somewhat interrelated, idiopathic environmental intolerances (IEI) and sensitisation disorders. These include Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome (EHS).

UK - Smart Meter frequency change

The Register reports EDMI, the UK maker of residential smart meter comms hubs, is planning to change the RF module to enable operation on 868 MHz as well as 2.4 GHz

The redesign was triggered in 2014, according to a source familiar with the matter, after Data and Communications Company (DCC), the Capita subsidiary managing the UK-wide smart meter project on behalf of government, found a dedicated Zigbee wireless home area network (HAN) using 2.4GHz alone would not allow smart meters to work properly in every UK home.
