Have you ever noticed that finding information the first time seems so
easy, but when you go back to refind the exact same information ...
you never find it. i thought their was a conversation at one time on
this list comparing different robotic vacuums, but i do not find it at
all. Am i imagining?

i want a vacuum that is smart enough to try to go back to its charging
station before dying.
Is more autonomous ... i do not have to tell it what to do with
scheduling necessarily, it cleans as it sees necessary.
Hopefully, it can empty its own diaper.
Actually saves time.

Do all the brands underperform? Are they still worth it even though
they do not satisfy my maximalist demands?

I too would like to hear others input on this.  My sister and parents have both had Roomba's (model unknown) and liked them for carpet. I don't believe they emptied themselves, but they did make it back to the recharging stand on their own (assuming the cats didn't put toys in the way).

IIRC, the models they had were mid-range about 4-5 years ago, so I would assume the same range or higher today would be even more autonomous.

Roomba also has (had?) a developers model that was built to be a vacuum robot but also had ports and pins that were accessible to develop and wire to.

I'm interested to see this discussion to since we'll be replacing our flooring this summer and I'd like a Roomba to keep the dirt managed.
