Hey y'all!

My name is Mitchell Tillwick, and I'm building a parkour gym 5 minutes up the street in the old cinema building located at 2828 S 82nd Avenue. We're hoping to use a handful of tools  from the makerspace to make this happen. Knowing the general rule is to keep the tools at the space, I wanted to put in a request for taking tools offsite to use and, if needed, help create a process so things are returned & taken care of properly. Some of the tools are necessary for on-site (as far as I can tell) like an impact drill when we mount bars on equipment, walls, floors, etc.

Here's a list of tools we need. Feel free to comment on the doc. I'm trying to crowd source as much of these as possible so we'd wouldn't need to use so much from OMG.

I appreciate the help and let me know if you have any questions! Preferred email is metil...@unomaha.edu or call/text, but you can also send to the parkour email.

Thank!
Mitchell Tillwick

Below is a background on our status if it helps give context on where we're at.

We've been operating for the past two years indoors at other facilities and outdoors at a local park. With this newly acquired space, we're flying in the original parkour builder (he founded SturdyMade, the FB group for building parkour equipment) from Vancouver, and he's going to be leading our team to train and build equipment. We're hoping with the summer camp we have planned and our class sizes will help us reach a sustainable financial status as we're not quite there yet (with the gym now a factor).

Mitchell,

Good to hear from you!
Our board of directors has now had some time to discuss your request, and unfortunately we’ve decided that we’re just not comfortable with our tools leaving our building. We rely heavily on those tools to provide the workshop environment our members expect, and we don’t have many duplicates. We would not want a member to show up expecting to use a tool at the space, only to find that it had been checked out and was off-site. Also, it looks like most of the tools we would be able to provide are already covered on your spreadsheet.
You may still be able to bribe individual OMG members into helping; quite a few of our members have substantial personal tool collections. Worst-case, Menard’s has most of the tools you want available for rent at pretty reasonable rates.
