MUD turned on gas this morning. Some miscommunication between me and MUD with service activation vs account setup. My fault, apologies.

Note on the thermostat

Automatic doesn't work (might be a commercial HVAC thing). You have to use the On position. If you turn heat On, be sure to turn it back to Heat+Auto. Otherwise the recirculation fan will run continuously.

It only took about 45 minutes to heat the place up by 10F, so I don't think keeping it at a base level will be necessary.

Also, winter is pretty much behind us. Timing, I has it.

We might consider changing the thermostat to a programmable unit, or at least upgrading it to something made in the last 15 years....

I have a spare dumb electronic thermostat that I could donate. It isn't smart enough to be programmable for alternating Tuesday/Wednesday + Saturday though. It's just an electronic version of the bimetallic strip and mercury switch that is on the wall there now.

We could link the dumb thermostat output into the light sensor chain, such that if the lights were off, the thermostat could not call for heat/cool or fan. That would be easy to do with just a couple of relays and some passive components, no programming, and it helps to ensure that it is off when everyone leaves (presuming we turn off all the lights).

Regardless, if we remove the existing thermostat, I want the mercury switch. I offer a best-of-three round of rock-paper-scissors-lizard-Spock to resolve any conflict in acquiring it.

I'm an idiot or something. Auto does work, I just wasn't very patient and/or there was a cool down timer. Can figure out details later, have other things to do.
