featuring
Wei Wei Hsing
Innovation Associate, Acumen Fund
Tuesday, April 27th
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Mortara Center
36th and N Street, NW
Refreshments will be served.
Wei Wei Hsing will join us to discuss Acumen Fund's work and how it is
reshaping the international development paradigm. The conversation
will focus on The Blue Sweater, the inspiring personal memoir of
founder/CEO of Acumen Fund, Jacqueline Novogratz, who has spent her
life on a quest to understand global poverty and to find powerful new
ways of tackling it. The Blue Sweater has been reviewed in the Hoya
and written about in a column/blog by Professor Katherine Marshall.
Acumen Fund is a non-profit global venture fund that uses
entrepreneurial approaches to solve the problems of global poverty. It
seeks to prove that small amounts of philanthropic capital, combined
with large doses of business acumen, can build thriving enterprises
that serve vast numbers of the poor. Its investments focus on
delivering affordable, critical goods and services – like health,
water, housing and energy – through innovative, market-oriented
approaches.
Each year, Acumen Fund recruits highly talented and passionate young
professionals to reflect on their role as leaders, build their
leadership capacity, and provide much needed management support to our
investees. Click here to learn more about Acumen Fund Fellows.
