GUSEC Georgetown University Social Entrepreneurship Competition
Final Event - April 5, 2008 Copley Formal Lounge
In
a combination of creativity, business, and social justice, the
annual GU Social Entrepreneurship Competition will be holding its final
event this Sunday, April 5, in Copley Formal Lounge from
1:00-4:00PM. Whether you are a student, alumni, or an entrepreneur
yourself, all are welcome to come enjoy an afternoon of social
entrepreneurship at Georgetown.
1:00-2:30PM Finalists Presentations Interested
in dynamic business ideas and transformative social progress? Come to
the first annual Georgetown University Social Entrepreneurship
Competition (GUSEC) to see the creativity of
Georgetown's social entrepreneurs as they compete for $5,000 in startup
capital. Presentations from the competition's finalists will
consist of a five minute business pitch followed by a ten minute
question and answer period. GUSEC promises to proffer unique and original entrepreneurial ideas aimed at creating a better world! 2:30-3:15PM Keynote Speaker: Jerr Boschee Jerr
Boschee, Executive Director of the Institute for Social Entrepreneurs has spent the past
30 years as an advisor to social entrepreneurs in the United States and
abroad and has long been recognized as one of the founders of the
social enterprise movement worldwide.
Mr. Boschee has helped found a number of today's key organizations
devoted to social entrepreneurship, including the National Center for
Social Entrepreneurs, the Forum for Nonprofit Leadership, and the
Social Enterprise Alliance.
3:15-4:00PM Awards and Reception Please join us after the keynote
address and see which teams were selected to win the $5000 in prize
money up for grabs in this year's competition. Afterwards, enjoy some
light refreshments while chatting with the winners, alumni, and
entrepreneurs.
