I got this from Sally Elliot about having or sharing a booth at the marathon:

Hi Herb,
I can’t message the Oly Trail Runner’s Facebook group so I wanted to reach out directly to you. Wanted to follow up with you and see if you would like to participate in the Cap City run fair either in a shared spot with another run club (a free spot) or a separate spot (fees apply)? Looking forward to hearing from you. - Sally

Hi Herb and All,

I mentioned a booth at Cap CIty for OTR at our last club meeting and the overall consensus seemed to be no as everyone was worried about volunteer fatigue.
However, I think the club might want to consider this as an option to get greater visibility on our races. Here's a breakdown on the revenue growth for three of our races between the years 2023 and 2024:

                                       2023                       2024                              Growth Rate
Capitol Peak                 $5839                      $6035                              3%
Mega Fat Ass               $3160                      $2620                              -17% (loss)
Run Forest Run           $5125                      $3975                              -22% (loss)

Please keep in mind these figures are based on runner sign up and do not factor cost of operations and are not a reflection of our gross profit. As of April 30, the club is still operating in the red: -$4935.51. We still have Scary Ass and WTF to factor for the year (LTMT is excluded as proceeds are donated), but we might want to start thinking of ways to increase gross profit so we can at least break even for the year. Increasing race entry is one option of many that we can consider. But, a free spot could be an easy way to increase visibility for our local races.

I'm meeting with Sally tomorrow for another reason, but if the club is interested, I'd be happy to find out more information about the shared/solo spot.

Hello,

Thank you for these numbers. From a promotional standpoint and since it is free to table, it may be worth our time. I however would be interested in knowing the exact times we would want people at the table.

I would be happy to create some printed material and tag team coordinating with someone.

There will be extra people at the expo this year bc of the Olympic Trials event.

I would be able to do a hour or two long shift.

Happy to support what others think.

I think the printed material is a great idea! I'm also available to help for several hours depending on exact times/days.

I’m reluctant to volunteer the group as I’m not available to volunteer personally. That said, I’m not opposed to a free spot if others are willing and available.

I spoke with Sally and the time commitment is from Noon to 5pm on the 18th. Possibly get there at 11:30 to park and setup. I’m fairly positive I can be there the entire time if that helps but will confirm by this evening.
I’m happy with whatever the group decides though.

I bet we can get a couple more people! Since Danielle can be there then I say we should do it! Danielle - I'll reach out to you separately to make sure we have all we need for the event. Thank you for helping!

I'll post asking about volunteers and send out a newsletter. I'll do this tmw to give the board a little longer to speak up if someone is opposed to us tabling.

I don't expect to send out another newsletter for awhile so I'll put our fall races in the newsletter. Jason - will you please confirm these dates.

Thanks Robin! Is there a time between Noon and 5pm that works for you?
