Olympia City Manager Steve Hall has named Mary Verner as the City of Olympia’s new Administrative Services Director and Chief Financial Officer. Verner until recently served as Deputy Supervisor for Resource Protection and Administration for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR). In addition to DNR, Verner has also served as chief executive officer of Spokane Tribe Enterprises and executive director for the Upper Columbia United Tribes. She is also the former mayor of Spokane, Wash.
“I am pleased that Mary is joining the City’s executive leadership team,” Hall said. “I was immediately impressed with the breadth of her background. She is a proven and innovative leader, who comes to us with unique experience in and perspective of organizational operations.”
Verner holds a law degree from Gonzaga University and a Master of Environmental Studies from Yale University. She is a recipient of the John T. and Catherine D. “I’m grateful to join the talented team so capably led by Jane Kirkemo,” said Verner. “And I’m excited about this opportunity to work with the dedicated and creative professionals who serve the citizens of Olympia.”
Verner will begin her new position on Feb. 27, 2017.
