City prepares to install second shared trash compactor in Downtown Olympia

Beginning the week of July 23, the City’s contractor, Rocky Bay Construction, will begin site improvements in preparation for the installation of a new, shared trash compactor. The project is located in the downtown alley between State Avenue and 4^th Avenue, and between Washington Street and Franklin Street. This project consists of the installation of electrical equipment, security fencing, and area lighting in order to accommodate the installation of a trash compactor.

 

The contractor will begin with the demolition phase of the project to remove asphalt and concrete within the project area. Expect construction noise typical of this type of work. Travelers should expect periodic traffic delays on streets and sidewalks adjacent to the project site. Flaggers will direct motorists and pedestrians through the construction area.
