Greetings, Dancers,

Please join us this Sunday afternoon, August 18, at the Tacoma Contra Dance.  Workshop at 3:00, dance 3:30 to 6:00 at the Fircrest Community Center, 555 Contra Costa Ave., in Fircrest.  Ric Goldman will call, and the band is Pleasantly Frantic.  How about that name?

After meeting in Irish “sessions” in a Portland pub, the musicians developed a repertoire of Irish, Scottish, Old Time, Québécois, and other tunes with wonderful arrangements.  The players are Erica Liebert and Ben Blechman on fiddle, Meg Tapley on flute, J.P. Douglas on piano, and Landon Kuhn on electric bass.  They offer an amazing range of music—from Mozart flute concertos to Irish jigs made for dancing.

If you are new to contra dancing, or want a refresher, be there at 3:00 for Ric Goldman’s workshop for newcomers.  In half an hour, you will know the basics and be ready to dance with us from 3:30 to 6:00.

Admission is $10-$25 on a “sliding scale.”  That means pay what you can afford.  An average of $15 to $16 per dancer will let us pay the costs for rent, caller, band, and sound.

It looks like good dancing weather on Sunday.  See you then for a “Pleasantly Frantic” experience.  If you want dance info for the rest of this year, you can check out our website, https://tacomacontradance.org
