Evergreen Harvest Festival contra dance with Countercurrent

This is two weeks away, but I wanted to let you know about a special contra dancing event coming up in Olympia. On Sunday, October 27th there will be a contra dance at the Evergreen State College Organic Farm's Harvest Festival. Countercurrent is the band, and I'll be calling using the role terms Larks/Robins.

There's lots of other stuff going on at the Harvest Festival as well; the event runs from noon until 9pm. More information about the event is below. The contra dance is in the evening, with a beginner's lesson at 7:30, dance at 8pm. The Organic Farm is located at 2712 Lewis Rd, Olympia WA 98502. Please come! This will be a unique opportunity to dance somewhere other than the South Bay Grange with folks outside of our core dance community.

You are invited to the 39th annual Harvest Fest! Sunday, October 27th, come celebrate this year’s theme of “Resilience &  Regeneration” with a contra dance, shape note singing, live music, local vendors, and hands-on activities such as cider pressing, pumpkin carving, chestnut roasting, and farm tours.  This year’s workshops will feature presentations on regenerative agriculture, community and ecological resilience, indigenous food systems, food sovereignty, and farmworker justice. Come to the Evergreen Organic Farm to kindle the fire of community, sing, dance and throw down with us as we celebrate the fruits, squash, and nuts of our labour!

Hope to see you this evening at the Harvest Fest contra dance at Evergreen! Update on the timing: I'm planning to lead a beginner's lesson at 7pm, and we'll start the dance at 7:30. We can keep dancing until 10pm, or whenever they tell us to turn the sound system off.
