Let's Dance to the Contra Quartet this Sunday

Greetings, Dancers,
Please join us this coming Sunday, August 17, for calling by Elisabeth Monica and music by the Contra Quartet. The band, from Olympia, is Jesse Partridge on fiddle, Steve Cifka on cello, Julie Bennett on percussion, and Jay Finkelstein on guitar. Really good band.
Jesse Partridge is a magical fiddler with wonderful arrangements. Steve Cifka plays a classy cello to bring a “concert” dimension to contra dance music. Julie Bennett adds percussive beats, riffs, rolls, and grooves to enhance the dance. And Jay Finkelstein’s rock-solid guitar holds the music together.
We dance at Normanna Hall, 1106 South 15th Tacoma. Be there at 3:00 if you want to do the workshop for newcomers. Regular dancers join in, and are very welcoming to new dancers. After half an hour, you will know the basics of contra dancing and have fun dancing from 3:30 to 6:00.
Admission is $15 to $30—pay what you can afford. With normal attendance, an average of $19 per dancer will cover our costs for rent, sound, band, and caller.
