Greetings, Dancers,
Please join us this Saturday, August 19, at the Tacoma contra dance, with music by Dale Russ on fiddle and Mike Saunders on percussion. Their music is powerful and made for dancing.
Your caller is Laura Mé Smith, remember her? She was the caller the very first time I contra danced—way back in 1994. And she is still as funny and charming and delightful today. With a brilliant caller and two excellent musicians, this will be a fun dance.
The place is Christ Church Wells Hall, 310 North K Street, Tacoma. We start off at 7:00 with a workshop for newcomers. Within half an hour, you will know the basics and be ready to dance from 7:30 to 10:00.
Admission is $10 - $25 on a “sliding scale.” That means pay what you can afford, and please be generous. The number of dancers is now much lower than before the pandemic, which means that it is tough to cover our costs. Come on out and dance with us!
The pandemic is officially over, and we no longer require vaccination or masking. Feel free to wear a mask if you like. Details are below, copied from our website. Thanks. See you Saturday.
Matt
The federal and state public health emergencies are officially over, and COVID rates are very low in the Puget Sound area and in most other Washington counties. So, we have ended the requirements to be vaxxed, boosted, and masked at the Tacoma contra dance. However, please feel free to continue wearing a mask if that is your choice. Thank you.
Effective May 20, 2023, vaccination and booster shots are no longer required.
Effective July 1, 2023, masks are no longer required.
