Tacoma contra dance, with Ryan McKasson and Alex Sturbaum

Greetings, Dancers,
Please join us next Saturday, September 16, at the Tacoma contra dance. Ryan McKasson and Alex Sturbaum are each headliners in their own right, and a powerful duo when together. Ryan is a dynamite fiddler; he was once the youngest Scottish national fiddle champion, is a long-time member of the famous Syncopaths, and plays regularly with other outstanding local and national musicians. Alex, on guitar and other instruments, is really creative, as he draws on classical contra repertoires and comes up with something new. Great band. Caller Gwen Rousseau is one of my favorites, a superb dancer and caller who adds charm and grace to the evening.
The place is Christ Church Wells Hall, 310 North K Street, Tacoma. Workshop for newcomers starts at 7:00, followed by the dance from 7:30 to 10:00. Admission is $10 to $25—please be generous, as our costs have gone way up. Tell your friends too—we need more dancers!
Covid policy is back to “normal,” that is, vaxx and boost are no longer required, nor are masks. Please feel free to wear a mask if you like.
