Military Struggle.
This is when a character in the story is faced with problems in while
fighting.
In The Odyssey, an example of military struggle is for Telemachus who
had
to fight off the suitors that wanted Penelope. Telemachus was afraid
to fight,
because of his lack of experience in battles.

Conquest of the feminine.
This is when the men in fight for the women (their prize) or against
them (the obstacle). In The Odyssey, the obstacle that Odysseus
has to overcome is calypso, who trapped him on her island during
his journey home, and the reward was Odysseus fighting in the
Trojan War, to bring Helen back to the King of Sparta. Penelope
is also a prize, or reward because she is fought for by
Odysseus and her son, Telemachus, who have to get rid of the
suitors (who want Penelope) in order to have win her back.
