Are you working with inorganic materials such as cements, metals and alloys, batteries, minerals, and solid-state devices or organic materials including pharmaceuticals, dyes, pigments, and polymers, or other materials? PDF-5+ has you covered. Not only can PDF-5+ be used for analysis of X-ray, laboratory and synchrotron diffraction data, it can also be used for electron and neutron diffraction data. PDF-5+ is material and radiation type inclusive!

Due to events in Eastern Europe and sanctions put in place by the US and international governments,
ICDD has suspended the sale of ICDD databases and software to the Russian Federation until further notice.

The International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD) maintains a database of powder diffraction patterns, the Powder Diffraction File (PDF), including the d-spacings (related to angle of diffraction) and relative intensities of observable diffraction peaks. Patterns may be experimentally determined, or computed based on crystal structure and Bragg's law. It is most often used to identify substances based on x-ray diffraction data, and is designed for use with a diffractometer. The PDF contains more than a million unique material data sets. Each data set contains diffraction, crystallographic and bibliographic data, as well as experimental, instrument and sampling conditions, and select physical properties in a common standardized format.

The organization was founded in 1941 as the Joint Committee on Powder Diffraction Standards (JCPDS). In 1978, the name of the organization was changed to the current name to highlight the global commitment of this scientific endeavor.

The ICDD is a nonprofit scientific organization working in the field of X-ray analysis and materials characterization. The ICDD produces materials databases, characterization tools, and educational materials, as well as organizing and supporting global workshops, clinics and conferences.

In 2019, Materials Data, also known as MDI, merged with ICDD. Materials Data creates JADE software used to collect, analyze, and simulate XRD data and solve issues in an array of materials science projects.

PDF-4+/Web 2023 is licensed for use on a PC that has the PDF-4+/Web hardware dongle attached. The software may be installed on any number of computers; however, the licensed software can only be operated on the computer with the dongle attached. For concurrent access to the PDF-4+/Web database, additional licensed dongles must be purchased. Each dongle must be registered to enable a connection to the ICDD database server.

It is expressly prohibited to connect via a network, desktop sharing, or screen sharing software to the computer carrying the dongle for the purpose of accessing the PDF-4+/Web database.

HELP DOCUMENTATION & TUTORIALS
Explore the capabilities of PDF-4+ 2023 with our extensive Help documentation, online tutorials and videos. The Help files include a Table of Contents and fundamental information on how to use the database. The online tutorials are designed to demonstrate the features, applications, hints and shortcuts for your PDF-4+ product. Please visit www.icdd.com/resources/tutorials/

PDF-5+ features digitized patterns, molecular graphics, and atomic coordinates. These features incorporated into PDF-5+ enhance the ability to do quantitative analysis using third party software by any of three methods: Rietveld Analysis, Reference Intensity Ratio (RIR) Method, or Total Pattern Analysis.

SIeve+ offers a variety of algorithms and options that allow users to optimize results for particular chemistries and both standard and non-standard diffraction systems. SIeve+ features automatic rotation of the eight strongest lines (Hanawalt) or the eight longest of the strongest lines (Fink) or the eight longest lines (Long8) to look for entries that exhibit the best Goodness of Match (GOM). In the last few years, new algorithms have been added to identify non-crystalline materials and complex multi-phase specimens. Most of the algorithms were developed and optimized for a particular type of analysis and the options provide the user with a wide breadth of analytical capability. SIeve+ can be complementary to most commercial software programs. This complementary nature demonstrates the strength of SIeve+ in the analysis of minor and trace phases where the full filtering capability of the PDF databases can be applied.

This product is serviced by subscription only and requires registration. Your automatic renewal for this product is based on the original invoice date. If you cannot take advantage of the automatic subscription contact sa...@icdd.com.

The term of the license shall be one (1) year from the license registration key date. Registration is required upon installation. A registration key will be issued within 48 hours (Monday through Friday) of receipt of your information.

PDF-4/Minerals is the most comprehensive collection of mineral data in the world! Ninety-seven percent of all known mineral types, as defined by the International Mineralogical Association (IMA), are represented in the database, as well as many unclassified minerals.

Access to the ICDD (international Centre for Diffraction Data) Powder Diffraction Files (PDF-4) is restricted to UCI users only - users must go to Computer #563 in the Science Library Grand Reading Room (2d floor). That single computer with this database can be reserved for increments of 30-120 minutes using the Library Reservations system at

PDF-4 contains 480,000+ entries combining the world's largest sources of inorganic diffraction data from crystals and powders ina single database. There are 134 display fields coupled with 80 searches and the database is designed to support automated quantitative analyses by providing key reference data required for these analyses featuring digitized patterns, molecular graphics and atomic coordinates. These features incorporated in PDF-4+ enhance the ability to do quantitative analyses using third party software by any of three methods

For Help and Assistance in using the PDF-4 database:
When you run the PDF database, click on Help > Help Contents to see the help file and learn the basic mechanics of the database features.

Site License Renewals:
In order to take advantage of the site license renewal pricing, both the Master License and the Secondary Licenses of the database must be renewed yearly. To renew a site license, ICDD requires that the Master License and all Secondary Licenses be purchased concurrently on a single purchase order.

Multi-year Site License:
In response to customer requests, ICDD offers multi-year site licenses. The multi-year site license is offered as a convenience to our customers using site license pricing. This license is serviced by subscription and is available for a PDF-5+ and PDF-5+/Web. PDF-2 databases are not eligible.

Multi-year License Policy:
To assist customers with their yearly renewals, ICDD offers multi-year licenses that allow you to prepay for future renewals. The multi-year license renewal pricing provides savings on yearly license renewals, along with fixed pricing on the renewal for the purchased license term. Multi-year pricing is available for PDF-5+ and PDF-5+/Web. If the price for these products increases during your multi-year license period, you will not be billed the difference.

To purchase a multi-year license, users need to purchase a new license to the current release of the PDF, or renew their license to the current release using the current prices. Users may then purchase additional years for their license. All shipping charges will be billed on the original invoice. The multi-year license is serviced by subscription with yearly automatic renewals based on the anniversary of the original invoice date for PDF-4 databases. For each year in your multi-year license, you will receive the newest release of your PDF product. You will need to install and register your new product for each release.
