The specs will be significantly upgraded. The exterior/peripherals
will remain the same. No confirmation about pricing, but sounds like
it will be about the same. Test machines will start to arrive in
August 09. Wide availability will probably follow a few months later.

This is probably the first really positive announcement from OLPC in a
long while. But OLPC still has a lot of work to do. This announcement
confirms that the hardware development is coming along well. The
software side, however, is still a bit unclear. Given their recent
policy (see http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Future_releases), sugar will
become more like a regular application, while the machine will boot
with standard Linux distributions (i.e. Fedora). But today's
announcement sounds like the XO 1.5 will still ship with the old
software model (Image 8.2.x release). There is no mention of the
Windows-XP dual-boot option either. So, what is really going to happen
remains to be seen.

Sugar Labs will continue to provide Sugar support OLPC hardware
regardless of any appearance of indecision on OLPC's part.
