Dear OLPC Enthusiasts,
Looks like we are off to a good start (finally!!!). We now have a
micro deployment at a school near Hyderabad (village of Aziznagar)
which is being fostered by the KMR Foundation. There was a training
event at KMR recently.

We have a small grassroots group forming in Hyderabad. Thus far, we
have some people from the local linux group, and a couple of colleges.
I presented to IIIT Hyderabad and IEEE Computer Society back in
November 2008 (
http://www.slideshare.net/sverma/olpc-presentation-for-ieee-hyderabad-and-iiit-hyderabad-presentation).
This effort has been brewing since then :-) IEEE Computer Society is
still interested in fostering the design of class projects for college
students (via IEEE) that intersect OLPC and Sugar work.
Let others know. We have a page on Facebook (search for olpc hyderabad
if you are on Facebook) and a stub on w.l.o at
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Hyderabad. Jump in and populate it!
I am involved in this project not only as a volunteer, but also as a
researcher, along with a colleague of mine at San Francisco State
University and our focus is with literacy and health. I'll post more
details as things firm up.
Biryani and OLPC - Two loves in one city! Woohoo!!!
cheers,
Sameer
