Dear OLPC Jammers.

Hello My  name is Lisa   and  I am senior advisor at a NGO type watchdog group that  sponsors this program LWSF

You may visit us at: http://www.orgsites.com/ny/lwsfpro/

I am very interested in attending  OLPC related as well as International  Child Internet Usage  forums in cluding Fall 2007 Jammer in New York.
We are not a very rich group and we would also like to know if accommodations can be made to get  fees waived if there are any in related to any of these events if they  cost money. We work independently but do send reports many that are not listed on our NGO site to  governmental  bodies. Our Ngo site is in pre launch testing phase  right now. LWSF is not.
I have joined your group and look forward to a rewarding time there I also made one page.

Sincerely

LWSF

Welcome, Lisa! We look forward to having you.

We're going to try very hard to get everything donated for the Jams, but
if there's an entrance fee (hopefully we won't have to have one) it will
be quite low. It cost $50 to attend the Game Jam in Boston this June,
including food for all three days, and the Curriculum Jam will almost
certainly be less than that.

What would help a lot, especially in keeping costs down: We're looking
for locations, probably schools or offices, that might be willing to
donate space for a weekend, from Friday as early as we can use the space
(after classes or work is ok if we have to), to Sunday night. Probably
the last weekend in September; we'll set the date by the end of this week.

Space needs:
blackboards/whiteboards, tables for groups to work at, at least one room
where it's okay for people to eat. At least one room with a projector.
3-4 rooms would be great; more is awesome but not mandatory. Think of
how much space you'd need for 8-12 small (~5 kids) classes to be taught
simultaneously. We'd clean up afterwards. It would be helpful if we
could sleep at the location (sleeping bags), if nearby people would be
willing to house participants, or if we can otherwise get free lodging
closeby - that would take out most of the expense and probably allow us
to run the event for free.

Again, welcome!

-Mel
