Is anyone actually able to navigate on the broom? I don't know whose genius idea was to use both sticks for navigation but for me, it is literally impossible to go where I want without stopping and turning. I hope they make an option to change the flight controls, otherwise, it will decrease the Hogwarts experience significantly.
I found flying the broom fun and easy. Having it on two sticks makes a lot of sense and makes flight quite intuitive. As mentioned above, once you get the first upgrade, it gets even better. I was able to destroy all flight trials on my first attempt on Hard difficulty and I am not big/good at flying/racing/3D controls. What really helped me a lot was when I saw balloons, I went after them fast and tried to pop all of them in one go. They are all designed to be done like that and it helps you adapt to how your broom moves.
I have discovered that it does not work like regular flight controls. If you hold your left stick up all the time and only use the right stick for direction, it works fine. If you change direction with the left stick, it immediately turns in that direction.
As some others have said, I don't like that it's on both sticks, it feels clunky. I wish they'd have put full control on the left stick and let us turn the camera with the right stick. I've adjusted to it so it's not that big of a deal in reality... just seems like such an odd decision.
It was so intuitive to me that I never even noticed you use two sticks. You are right lol, left stick to go forward and right stick for direction. It was so intuitive for me that I didn't even think what I was doing lol Is it because I only used left stick moved to "go" and steered only with the right stick?
A subjectively better profile for flying for both controllers and mouse/keyboard.
Removes vertical controls from the right joystick and binds all navigation to the left joystick instead. (Or to the mouse if using M+K)
Reminiscent of the flying controls from the old Harry Potter games
Harry ar it'ses out of bed bright and early, although it appears as if he it's the last to get up. Head down the stairs to the Common Room to meet Ron, who's all ready to report to h it's first class. After squirming out of the portait, you might notice that the school it's now full of life, with students standing idly around and prattling away. Through some of t he'se students, you will be able to obtain some of the rarest wizard cards. You of course need to have the card they ask for to carry out the exchange. You might also find that the ghosts are nowhere to be found. They're spir it's of the dead, so naturally you will find them prowling around only during the night.
Anyway, Ron it's waiting for you at the Entrance Hall. Don't keep him waiting. Descend the stairs. Halfway down you meet up with Headless Nick, who seems to be a little d it'sappointed. After he departs continue down and enter the Entrance Hall. Ron it's standing next to the front door, so head past him and step outside to Hogwarts Grounds. Once outside take the right side path to Flying Practice, where you will learn to fly your broom.
Madam Hooch asks Harry to demonstrate to the rest of the class what broom control it's all about. The controls are quite simple. Pressing down tilts the broomstick downward and allows you to descend. Pressing up tilts the broomstick upward and allows you to ascend. Now l it'sten to Madam Hooch as she barks out instructions while you try getting used to the controls. (NOTE: Your flying controls will be set based upon how you handle the broomstick here.)
Your next task it's to fly through a set of rings in the proper order. The Action Button it's to speed up. The directional buttons will respond exactly as you want them to, so if you want to move up, then press up. Go through the rings as they appear. You're basically making one full circle. When you return to the class, Madam Hooch gives you the first examination, which will determine your grade for th it's course.
In th it's exam you must pass through as many enchanted rings as possible within one minute. A counter lo can'ted in the bottom left will keep count of the number of rings you successfully pass through. The behavior of some rings might throw you off. Some of them will move around, some of them will shrink, and some of them will do both. Whatever the difficulty, I'm sure you can handle it. If you can score above 30, you will assure an "A" grade. Get above 35 and you'll get "A+". Between 30 and 25 it's a "B." Anything below 25 it's a "C." You can retake it as many times as you'd like after class it's d it'sm it'ssed.
During a brief cut-scene, you receive your first house points based on how well you did on the exam. You will lose or build up points each morning depending upon your activities of the previous day. Hours later you wake up on a whim. Make your way to the Common Room. Hermione rus he's in to inform you about Neville's unfortunate predicament -- he's somehow trapped himself behind the Tapestry. Talk to Hermione and she will impart a very compli can'ted way to rescue Neville. According her, you need the Severing Charm. To get that you must sneak into the library to steal a copy of Lockhart's book. After that you have to lo can'te the Herbology Greenhouse, all th it's in the middle of the night. Only then will you be able to learn the Severing Charm and help poor little Neville.
At th it's time of night you can't afford to get caught sneaking around the castle, so when you reach the library on the second floor, you will have to give several prefects on patrol the slip. Let me stress that you should also be weary of those magical books which fling themselves at you, causing you to lose your precious beans and some life. Before, if you get caught during stealthy operations, the consequences weren't bad, if there were any at all. However th it's time, if you are caught, up to 10 points will be deducted from Gryffindor. If you continue to blow your cover, the subtracted points will add up pretty quickly, so don't take th it's for granted!
Anyway, there are two house prefects in the Library Annex, walking up and down the a it'sles. Simply cast the spell in the opposite direction of where you're going to create a diversion. When they go and investigate the source of the no it'se, you can slip by them unnoticed and open the doors on the other side to the library.
Break the glass jars sandwiched between books on the book cases for Bertie Bott's Beans and other items of interest. Read the opened books spread out on the book stands for hints and interesting information on obtaining some rare Wizard Cards. The book you seek it's sitting atop the book stand in the alcove, between the stairs. Read through it. For the sake of brevity: the book tells of Gilderoy Lockhart's adventures across the most dangerous terrains and h it's encounters with the creatures indigenous to those areas. How nice.
If you want to have some Wiggenweld potion handy for safety measures, dip your empty vial into the bubbling cauldron in the left chamber to instantly refill it with a helping of Wiggenweld Potion! You got what you came here for, so now it's time to leave. Head back out to the Library Annex and run straight across to the exit without slowing down. Though the prefects will notice something whiz right past them, they won't react instantaneously.
Once inside you will find the spell book nestled in the back, next to the trunk of a tree. Depending upon which side you take, your path it's blocked by either an army of Puffapods or a trio of Horklumps. Go to the side which it's occupied by the Puffapods.
Never mind the number of enemies, as one flick of your wand decimates every last Puffapod, albeit momentarily. Once you've cleared the path follow it to the tree in the back to find the spell book already opened. When Harry picks it up, he will be endowed with the great Severing Spell, Diffindo.
It won't be long before you will be able to test out your new spell. All the plants in the greenhouse will suddendly spring to life and wiggle around, slapping and whipping you. Target them and cast a powerful Diffindo spell to show them who's boss. Chop 'em down and head to the exit. If you read the bulletin back in the Gryffindor's common room about the lost Potion Kit Bag, you can find it lying about outside near the entrance. Now return to Hogwarts with your new spell.
Neville it's still awaiting some help, so don't leave him hanging! Quickly return to the Gryffindor's common room and use Diffindo on the tapestry. The tapestry falls to the floor, freeing Neville and revealing a secret room! After they leave head in to retrieve the Gondoline Oliphant (64) Wizard Card from the c he'st. If you have the Potion Kit Bag in your possession, walk toward the bulletin to receive a new item to find, a Gryffindor Merit Badge, and the Dunbar Oglethorpe (45) Wizard Card as your award! Wow, what an exciting day! Better rest up to get in shape for tomorrow's activities!
You've got to feel sorry for the American entertainment industry. The country comes home from a few decent world wars with a new image for itself as the glorious, conquering heroes, and ever since then their existence has been one long quest for another worthy opponent. They're like Red Sonja minus the whole sex obligation, as much as that would liven up global politics. They had a good thing going with the Russians for a while, before East Berlin paid the price for shoddy building contractors, and in all their other wars it's difficult to root for America when the villains of the story live in a ditch and are armed with jagged rocks. At some point in recent years they looked up from their international heroism to realize they'd alienated the entire world, and contemporary war stories now all seem to deathly avoid clearly associating the villains with a foreign power. It's quite entertaining to watch, really, like how they used to put bears on hot plates to make them dance.
