I hope you are all enjoying the warm weather and the garden!
I’m emailing to let you know that the St Nicks Alliance Community Preservation Unit is relocating to 306 Union Ave in the coming week. Our new phone number will be 718-388-9190.
Since Rolando & I will be located further away from Olive St Garden, we’ll be counting on all of you to help keep the garden clean & open to the public. We need help with the following tasks & hope you’ll help:
· Keep the garden open during the posted hours of operation
· Weeding ( weeds need to be pulled both in and outside of the garden)
· Pick up litter (keep garden and sidewalk litter free)
· Turning compost in all bins (Material in bins need to be turned with pitchfork or compost tool as often as possible)
· Tumbler needs to be tumbled daily
· Get saw dust weekly
Also it is important that the compost tumbler and bins be used properly.
Kitchen scraps such as egg shells, vegetable peels, and coffee grounds can go in the tumbler. Leaves and vines (not weeds) can go in the bin closest to the tumbler. The bin in the center is used only for dark decayed materials moved from the first bin. And finally the bin furthest away from the tumbler is for fine material (compost).
After we are settled into our new office, we will plan a work day so we can finish making the compost bin slats as well as deal with other garden maintenance issues. In the meantime, happy gardening!"
