Top spellers from throughout Western New York will be taking a written test Wednesday in hopes of qualifying for the annual Buffalo News Spelling Bee.
The top scorer from each county and the next 10 highest scorers will qualify for the oral final, to take place March 11 at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society on Nottingham Terrace.
The winner of that competition will go on to the National Spelling Bee, to be held the week of May 27 in Washington, D.C.
