The Ole Asheboro Street Neighborhood Association will hold its monthly
meeting tonight at 7pm. The agenda will include an update on the
community garden, the "park" and the information below about the South
Elm Street Development Project.

The Redevelopment Commission selected the South Elm Development Group,
which is a single-purpose LLC with three principals: Bob Chapman, Bob
Isner, and Seth Harry. All three are principals in other companies as
well, but are acting independently of those companies as the South Elm
Development Group (SEDG).This is the company that has no diversity
among its principal management. Many of our members are very
concerned about the process and the team that has been selected to
work in a predominately African American community. The major partner
in this team, TND has poor MWBE records and past participation. Out
community needs economic development, not parks and rec programs and
midnight basketball!

The Ole Asheboro Street Neighborhood Association board/community
meeting is scheduled for the 13th of February at 414 MLK, Jr at the
New Zion Community Enrichment Center (the old fire station) and would
like to invite our City Council representative, Jim Kee and others
including the Mayor Perkins, Yvonne Johnson, Dianne Bellamy- Small,
Nancy Vaughn, Mary Kay Abuzuaiter and Nancy Hoffman. We are expecting
surrounding neighborhood associations to be present. To view each
proposal, visit http://southelmstreet.com/news-events.
