Friends,
I am sure that many of you know that the Boy Scouts are considering lifting their ban on allowing those who are openly gay from serving in leadership positions. Those are that are against the BSA doing this are working hard to persuade them to keep their current position. I've included an email from one such group below.
The BSA has been hearing from a lot of secular groups in support of lifting this ban and hearing from a lot of religious groups in opposition to lifting the ban. It would be wonderful if some Old Southers could contact the BSA to let them know that you support lifting the ban, let them know that you are Christian. Ask you friends from other churches to do the same. The email below gives plenty of ways to contact the BSA. Let's make it clear to the BSA that those that are Christian are not universally opposed to the inclusion of gay individuals as leaders in the BSA.
Thank you for your time!
Peace and blessings,

We know it is tough getting through to the Boy Scouts of America by telephone and we appreciate your efforts.
It appears they are not answering at
972-580-2000. We recommend you try
972-580-2597, or e-mail
P...@scouting.org, or go to
http://aplacetogive.scouting.org/contact-us/ to send the Boy Scouts of America's staff an email expressing your concern.
Also, the correct phone number for BSA Board member T. Michael Goodrich is
205-972-6000.
Again, many
thanks for your great efforts to keep the Boy Scouts morally straight!

The phones are ringing off the wall.
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) national leadership were not prepared for the literally tens of thousands of Americans who were shocked to hear that an organization that could always be counted on for standing for what’s right was about to cave-in to homosexual activists and corporations which have been threatening the organization’s funding.
The phone lines are melting at BSA Headquarters but we must keep the pressure up! The BSA Board of Directors opens their annual meeting this Monday, and they must continue to hear from you that the Boy Scouts must continue to be the pinnacle of moral character, teaching young men to do their duty to God and country. Please call the members of the BSA Board of Directors and kindly urge them to stand strong and true to their timeless values:
Select BSA Board Members:
Sample Phone Script:
Hello, my name is _________, from __________.
Thank you for your service as a board member of the Boy Scouts of America.
As you're aware, a new proposal indicates that the Boy Scouts of America may revoke their longstanding policy of safeguarding Scouts by restricting homosexuals from holding leadership positions over boys. For decades, your national organization has kept the interest of the boys it serves as the focus of all its actions. No matter what, the Boy Scouts of America could be counted upon to do the right thing and not yield to any social pressure, and has thus far stood strong.
Please do not jeopardize the safety and moral integrity of Scouting in the interest of social activism. The proposal to relegate the decision on homosexual leaders to local chartered organizations sends the wrong signal from the national body: that political correctness ultimately triumphs over character.
Please retain the current long-held and time-tested policy regarding homosexual leadership and membership. America stands with you. Lead the way. Please stand strong.
Thank you, and God bless you.
