Summary Tuesday 22nd
Just a short summary today.
In today’s
fishbowl hangout
, amongst other things:
- Sheila
predicted it would crash within a few minutes (5.28)
, but it didn’t!
-
Penny asked about inquiry like approaches to learning design (7.48)
(Anyone want to add something to
Bibsonomy
?) and told us about why she set up
the Facebook group
;
she wanted the stream of chit-chat and ‘social glue’ (42.29)’
and wasn’t getting it from the other MOOC platforms.
-
Art joined from Minnesota (10.35)
but his
Nexus 7 promptly choked
. Fortunately, we’d heard about his fascinating ‘
take it apart & put it back together’ computing course
before the start.
-
Will told us about (19.26)
his
social video editing project,
giving us ideas about how we might use video differently in OLDS MOOC.
- And
Rose spoke about the importance of context for learning (36.12)
and
explained participation in the Ecology of Resource design framework (51.48)
.
We spoke about other stuff too and tried to address the
questions from Twitter
and
the discussion thread
. Some
celebrated missing the fishbowl
, surely that smiley is the wrong way round? While others found it
“made the MOOC more human” and began to think about incorporating the format in their own learning designs
. This week’s timing
didn’t suit everyone
and there must be ways the format can improved, so do
share your ideas
.
Tomorrow is for curating (guidance)
the best of what you and others have done this week. If you spot great stuff
recommend it for the week 2 summary
. Bring it all together and spend a while reflecting on your achievements. Then think how you want to take this forward and remember you’ll always be welcome back to
week 2 - inquire
!
