Dear participants,
The Learning Design for a 21st Century Curriculum MOOC starts today and runs over the next 9 weeks! We are delighted to see so many of you already introducing yourselves in the open discussion (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/olds-mooc-open), setting up your cloudworks and other portfolio areas, tweeting, blogging, and generally ready to set fire to the world of education!
Today is the official start date of the MOOC. It offers you a structured sequence of activities and providing space for your own initiatives, creativity, and collaboration. We hope that most of you will choose to follow all the activities, share your outputs and review your peer's work. We expect that the typical path of the MOOC will require 3 to 10 hours a week, depending on your personal commitment and interests. We are aware that many of you have to balance your participation with other commitments, and may want to scan the course schedule (http://www.olds.ac.uk/the-course) and select a subset of the activities and fit them around other constraints in your schedule.
For us, this MOOC is also a design experiment - this is the first ever MOOC on learning / curriculum design, one of the first project based MOOCs, and a rare example of collaborative learning on such a large scale. We're all very excited about this project and looking forward to the opportunity to learn together with you!
