I know that the target area for this MOOC is Higher Education, but I'm sure there are lessons that Corporate or Workplace Learning folks can glean as well.  Are there any other non-HE people participating?

Feel free to connect!

Me! Although my background is HE, I'm out in the world of workplace and adult learning, and I'm looking forward to figuring out what might be helpful there, too.

I'm in vocational education and adult learning (workplace learning).  This is my 4th MOOC and the others were geared toward HE too.  But, I still got some good nuggets to run with--mostly finding new articles and books to read.  I will be a bit challenged with the timing of this MOOC, but will do my best to keep up.  Jan

Me as well! I'm working for a provincial government in Canada, in the field of human rights. I develop courses, short modules and even short videos for a wide audience that includes the general public.

Cheers!

Me as well. Even though I also work in HE I am working with a few privately held companies offering ongoing education. mostly ion the form of webinars or distance learning courses. I am interested in how to enrich distance learning courses, where students need to read through a lot of course/ module books. My task is to enhance this by incorporating online activities so that students can reflect on their learning progress and test their knowledge.

hi all,

My background is also much more workplace related, like ET (hi ET) it is linked to health, more specifically mobile health for developing regions.
I am also providing support for companies interested in embedding new learning technologies into their overall HR policies, together with other wonderful people. Although MOOCs are mostly seen as related to HE, they form creative formats for corporate training environments, especially international companies. Working on a book on this right now.

Best wishes

Welcome, Leah!  My dirty secret is that I have spent time as Associate Faculty for HE, but I remain firmly rooted in workplace learning & development.

Welcome, Carolyn - both as a workplace learning practitioner but also as another Canadian. :)

Hi Mark,

I'm involved with a group of local enterprises that have started to think about how they might work together, not only for each others benefit but that of the local community and economy in general. I am therefore very interested in developing workplace learning across the whole group.

I watched the Towards Maturity 2012 benchmark launch and, it does feel like there are many similarities between the Education and Workplace learning. The 'Tools of the trade' for one.

Hi Mark.

Although my primary contract at the moment is in the HE world, my real love is connecting this to the workplace through targeted training. Particular interests are in project management, teamwork and leadership.

Hi Mark

I work in Economic Development for Edinburgh Council in Scotland.  My role is in labour market interventions that help people find employment.  I have a background in TEFL and youth work and have created many face to face courses and a few rapid e-learning ones.  I think this MOOC should be for anyone who is involved in learning regardless of context.  I'd be happy to chat further or lend a hand if you're interested in how online/e-learning can be utilised in the workplace.

Cheers

Brian

Hi, all. Currently, one of my main clients is a new mega-hospital in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where I support orientation and training for 1000 employees (to be 3200 by end of year) via web-based products.(webpages, e-tutorials).

I have mostly been developing for higher education (and have a doctorate in higher education leadership and online learning) but am challenged to provide succinct and effective, just-in-time training for my public-sector client. This group will be helpful in focusing the learning in the MOOC.

Do we form a Google group? Or a new cloud (or whatever is it called :0)?

Hi,

I know I'm kinda late, but I am working in a Learning Design related position within the public service, in the sunny island of Singapore. The target group comprises mainly civil servants local and overseas.

I'm a fresh college grad from a technical background (with a focus on Human-Computer Interaction), and I discovered this MOOC by chance, in a quest to build up my knowledge in Learning Design both for my career and personal interests. I hope to be able to gain a better understanding of issues in Learning Design, and how my technical knowledge can fit in such areas.

As such, I'm a greenhorn with not much experience to contribute, but I'm very glad to have this platform to share and learn from! =)

Cheers,
HweeShan

Hi Mark

My current job is designing workplace learning in the areas of Financial and Business acumen, Leadership, Strategy and so on.  Our focus is very much on learning by doing, so I am mainly involved with games and simulations.  I have no particular attachment to the subject area.  I am far more interested in Learning itself and particularly in the use of games and simulations to facilitate that.  I'd be happy with any subject area so long as I get to play!!

I've joined a little late - so am looking for others to connect to.

Regards

Sarah Le-Fevre

Thanks, Daniel. I joined that group  but I am concerned it is overly large and multi-topic. Will there be more focused groups to work in?

Hi Alice (Xin) and others interested in workplace learning. I just spotted this EU project Mirror

http://www.mirror-project.eu/
Reflective Learning at Work
"The focus of 'Mirror' is the creation of an easily used set of applications ('Mirror' apps), that enable employees to learn lessons from their own and others experiences to perform better in the future. The project facilitates learning 'on the job', at the workplace, through collaboration and reflection technologies."

I wondered whether it might be of interest, have a look.
They have a group on LinkedIn where it might also be possible to have interesting discussions...

Best,

Josh
