After replacing video cable to a fix black screen issue on a friend's computer, laptop boots, then says 'System time and date reset', then asks for password. I asked my friend about the password, and he says he never set anything to his knowledge. After 3 tries system shuts down. No CMOS battery is easily visible or related markers on MOBO. So 2 things:

2) Does anyone have ideas / experience with this model family or similar? I haven't found anything specific to this model on the internet so far. I've got a few shots of the mobo if someone can pick something out. I've found a few 'tips' on this sort of issue on the web, but a lot of it is fairly old or does not specify when it was posted.

Issue solved by making some educated guesses on what the code might be. It was " ". Seriously, 4 spaces, that's what it was. Lesson learned I guess, after buying a laptop check the bios/supervisor password immediately to see if there is one, then get it using tools that can only work when you can specify the boot order / get to the OS.

Seriously, you can't POST the code? It would kill you to share that with others?Really? No body helps anybody anymore without something in return, do they. You must WORK for toshiba. Congradulations on being able to finally use your computer now...probably runs real fast while serving all of your online needs. That's good. Enjoy it, you got lucky somehow($$$$$). In the meantime, I'm taking one last crack at unlocking mine by throwing it away in the garbage dumpster across the street because that's all mine's good for now.

Well, for the Toshiba S55t-B5273NR, which has the Quanta DA0BLNMB8D0 motherboard, G1, G2, and G3 are located by the ram slots near the edge of the board. If you are facing the board looking at the ram slots it will be down and to the right, down and to the right, near the edge of the board. I added pics to my original response. G1, G2, and G3 each consists of two silver (soldered) arrows pointed away from each other. They are in a row and G2 is in the middle.

-No unfortunately, its just says you got it wrong, then shuts down after 3 attempts. I've been doing some reading, and it appears that these newer laptops are designed to 'defeat' all methods of getting these types of passwords (no error code, no visible battery, no jumpers, vague labeling on circuit boards, and they actually store the passwords on a separate chip that doesn't require a constant energy source, so resetting the BIOS wouldn't change it.

Hello a week ago I was given to fix a Toshiba Satellite C55t-C5300 laptop, which happened the same thing, when you turn it on, it asked for a password. After a week of research with my cousin Alberto Concepcin, we were able to find the solution.

You must first extract the BIOS from the board with a heat station, and through an interface read the firmware, done this using an exadecimal reader you can search the line 000080B0 shows you the password of your BIOS mine was "12345678".

Please, can anyone help me out of this problem. I have a Toshiba TECRA S5 with FINGERPRINT and BIOS PASSWORD on it. I have tried removed the CMOS battery and tried some other codes but they didn't work. Please help, I need to recovered this laptop

I had a Similar problem with My Toshiba Satellite L50-B where every time I tried booting from USB it wouldn't I searched numerous website all saying the same thing in the end I gave up and started testing BIOS settings Myself and found that if I changed the USB 3.0 setting to disable so it boots the laptop into thinking its using USB ports in 2.0 mode I instantly Am able to boot Windows setup or anything similar with no problems at all hope this may help some of You. :)

From my own tests with toshiba click mini, you'll be able to boot vfat usb key with a well formated efi boot directory and file (/efi in your USB key). Bios even in 5.10 release does not support legacy boot.

Windows 8.1 32 bits usb key build from Windows 8.1 is able to boot on click mini (ntfs filesystem) while 64 bits release of Windows 8.1 usb key build from Windows 8.1 64 bits does not boot on click mini. I suspect, as discuss on toshiba eu forum, toshiba click mini bios to boot using 32 bits efi boot sheme on efi/boot/bootia32.efi.

Try boot with a gparted usb key : get the files from efi/boot (include a grub.cfg file) and use this on new USB key you create, you'll be successfull to boot linux modifying grub.cfg. Try the Manjaro (ArchLinux) distribution, this distribution as the best hardware support at that time.

Fedlet works out of the box (although super unstable because the window manager is to heavy). What I did was install xubuntu while stealing someone else's efi encryption stuff. Then I just did some grub hacking and it worked (I think I ended up comparing what fedlet was doing vs the default xubuntu disk). Once I booted I installed xubuntu and then I had to do the same procedure for the installed OS.

I tried everything add infinitum and eventualy took the back off machine unplugged cmos battery plugged back in, put computer back together and hey presto no problem.there are loads of instructibles on youtube for the process ,not particularly easy.
