| | | Dear Robert, A beloved destination for anglers, hunters, and boaters, Oregon’s Rogue River provides essential habitat for salmon and wildlife, and supports over $30 million in annual recreation-related economic activity for local communities. Despite being designated as one of the first Wild and Scenic Rivers in 1968, the river is threatened by the loss of existing protections under the Roadless Rule. Losing these protections would increase logging and mining activities that would pollute tributary streams, destroy wildlife habitat, and increase wildfire risk. We must protect the existing freshwater values these areas provide. | | | | |
| | | For over two decades, the Roadless Rule has protected undeveloped national forests. If eliminated, 200,000 acres in and around the Rogue River watershed would be opened to large-scale logging, road-building, and industrial nickel mining, putting clean water and wildlife habitat at risk. Join us in telling Congress to uphold existing protections under the Roadless Rule, protecting the Rogue River and 80,000 miles of rivers nationwide, that supply drinking water for 24 million Americans. | | | | |
| | | Thank you for all that you do for rivers, | | | | |
