  A proposed data center in Jones County is stalled as of Monday after the company behind it withdrew its application. The project was set to be voted on during a Monday evening planning and zoning meeting, but was removed from the agenda after the developers pulled their application, according to Jones County Planning and Zoning Director Tim Pitrowski. The developers, Eagle Rock Partners, did not give a reason for the withdrawal. The Telegraph reached out to Eagle Rock Partners for comment but did not hear back prior to publication. 

 

 The project proposed rezoning more than 600 acres of agricultural land near Highway 18 and Highway 49 for a data center. It stirred controversy across the county, with opponents arguing it endangers the rural character of the area and would burden local resources. Eagle Rock Partners was also behind a proposal to build a data center in Twiggs County that drew massive outcry from the community. The proposal passed the Twiggs County Board of Commissioners unanimously on Sept. 18 and residents are now suing the county.
