That tension between people who all have an electoral mandate is playing out in southeast Georgia, where five counties have called for the resignation of their prosecutor, Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney Keith Higgins, as first reported by The Current GA’s Jabari Gibbs. Glynn, Camden, Wayne, Appling and Jeff Davis counties want Higgins to go, after auditors found poor recordkeeping and financial oversight in an office that’s stopped prosecuting some cases for lack of money. Higgins says he’s not resigning and that the employees responsible for that poor recordkeeping are gone. |
