Beta ETA?

least, a beta version available? I have a lot of spam collecting, that
I want dealt with.
If it's going to be a matter of weeks, great! Months, I guess I can
wait a little longer. If it won't be until sometime next year, then I
may as well unsubscribe from this newsgroup, and check back at some
point in the distant future to see if anything has happened.
If nothing more, I just want something to click on that makes me at
least think I'm doing something to get rid of the spam, and will handle
all of the days messages in one or two clicks.

Please read previous threads and why you should not be collecting spam
now to submit to the project when it is ready, short answer is spam
more then a few weeks old is to old to be worth persuing.

you can be sure to hear from the same media when the first successor
will rise...
it might be a good thing to create some database of people who are
really only interested in beta testing... thus giving them the peace of
mind that they will get a wake up email when the first Okopipi rays are
about to shine, no need to be invloved in the bla bla till that
moment... (personally I am interested the trip as well as the
destination).
it can be as simple as a thread where anyone who post "Me too"... but I
think a more descrete way is needed, yet not too complacated as to make
it a project on its own...
if the group has some mail or maybe the Okopipi domain has one? we can
give a link to that private / protected email address, anyone who sends
mail to it will be notified when the time comes.

If people only want to be contacted when a beta is released out, they
just have to subscribe to Okopipi-Announce, or the SC may create
another group only dedicated to proclam the various births of Okopipi ?
I feel Google is more protected than a particular domain, but that's
only a feeling...

Once again liberty you are posting suggestions that we already have in
place, as has already been pointed out the Okopipi-Announce thread is a
very low traffic thread for just this reason, we also have a section of
the volunteer list on our Wiki for Beta Testers to sign up.
Liberty I hate to be rude, but please spend some time reading back
through the threads and the wiki as most your posts have been repeates
of earlier discussed topics.

I don't know what you standards of rudeness are but being asked to do
some basic research really should be within that realm. It would save
a lot of time if you did read the wealth of material we do have
available before being to quick to post. I don't think this is an
unreasonable request, why do you think it is?

I'd suggest trying out KnujOn: http://www.knujon.com/
They don't do opt-outs, DDoS or anything like that -- just reporting
spam to relevant authorities, working directly with ISPs, etc., and
keeping track of sites they have shut down. They also archive data for
law enforcement use.
You can sign up for their beta program if you want personalized reports
signup isn't necessary and can forward them your junk without being a
member.
I extended the BlueFrog Thunderbird plugin to enable KnujOn reporting,
plus added some features (like limiting the number of spams to attach
to a single report email):

They're going through some growing pains (and right now many reported
emails are bouncing.. so I end up saving the bounces and uploading them
via FTP instead) but they are actively working on these issues.

the discussion, please just ignore it. If the level of signal-to-noise
starts getting bad, an admin can deal with it off-list.

It's still in beta, still a bit buggy. But I am trying it out.
It doesn't do much for the source of the problem though. It really
just reports the bot systems that have been taken over by the spammers,
causing the "innocent" users to get cut off.
At least it's something for the moment though.
