APT you can tick all of them, same on bash history.Chromium all except passwords. Deep-scan all except .DS_Store , Firefox all except passwords. I have Ubuntu Mate 22.04, Bleachbit 4.4.2. Firefox is installed from SNAP.
I use bleachbit since years and always has worked perfectly, now I see that it can't clean the Firefox cache of the fields where to write user or account name.
That's annoying for many reasons, how can I fix the problem?
If you're familiar with bleachbit it is much different. Bleachbit focused on secure deletion of files, directories, partitions and drives. I'm not sure if it was ever optimized for ssd's, i stopped using it years ago.
While you're not required to look over whats being deleted, whenever I run bleachbit, I just skim over what it plans to delete just to make sure it's nothing critical. As far as I know, it won't delete any settings for any programs but it does delete stuff like temporary files in your local and system directories as well as your internet history and cache for any browsers you have installed.
In earlier editions in bleachbit GUI there was an option to select Mozilla cookies for deletion. Now there isn't such an option anymore (is it that Mozilla cleans up cookies by default after closing a tab/browser?).
Every time I try to delete Mozilla cookies by hand from the terminal after closing the browser, bleachbit tells that there 0 cookies to be deleted.
So in bleachbit GUI I clean mainly Brave browser cookies, Discord if needed, System cache and temporary files, and sometimes temporary files under Deep Clean.
I'm running bleachbit 4.4.2 and in GUI it doesn't have a Firefox section. As i installed Brave browser, it has only Brave section to clean. I use Cookie Autodelete addon in Firefox and until now the option in Firefox Settings to delete cookies upon closing the browser wasn't selected. When I was trying to delete Firefox cookies manually with bleachbit -c firefox.cookies it told that there are no files to clean.
I'm using Ubuntu Mate 22.04.2 LTS.
I've got Firefox pre-installed and have been using it since (so probably snap, as currently I don't care for website loading speeds if that is what snap does).
I've checked to remove cookies after closing in Firefox Settings, I suppose this will clear cookies the same way as bleachbit does.
I downloaded and installed bleachbit_3.9.0-1 from the Puppy Package Manager(PPM) in Fossapup64 9.5.
First updated the PPM database.
Did a search for bleachbit.
PPM installed BleachBit and found and installed all the dependencies needed, listed in the first post.
Started up with no problem from menu-BleachBit
After this bleachbit without root option window opens and that is running smoothly. This auto update option says that im in root privilege as in the picture. But options in Bleachbit are as same as normal not as root.
BleachBit is a very common junk cleaner and as popular as ccleaner. INfact, bleachbit contains more areas for cleaning than ccleaner. I have been using bleachbit with bitdefender for past couple of years and the vendors who are detecting bleachbit as malicious have a false positive detection.
Installed bleachbit.
When I try to execute it from the budgie menu it hangs.
If I run pkexec bleachbit from the command line it works.
If I click on the bleachbit as root icon in /usr/share/applications it works.
However, if I copy the bleachbit-root.desktop file in /user/share/applications to my Desktop, mark it as executable and then click on it it hangs.
For what its worth, is works under ubuntu 18.04.
