Hey all,

I'm Rayna, I work as research fellow at the Paris 5 University and as a freelance writer on various topics (not only science). My background is in genetics and bioinformatics but obsessive curiosity makes me write and read about internet governance in MENA and Eastern Europe, politics, etc.

I'm a longtime member of various Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) communities, have worked on Gender in FOSS with Unesco and am currently a board member of the French chapter of the OKFN where I am trying to build an Open & Citizen Science working group among other great projects we are currently developing :)

Great to e-meet so many interesting people :) Looking forward to working with you!

Hi everybody,

thank you all for introducing yourselves! Really nice to see so many different interests and backgrounds.
So basically what I have done in this group here, is listing all the different community tasks from all of the different working groups and local groups in one place. I can imagine that at first sight it is a bit overwhelming so I would be happy to arrange a call or something with you to learn a bit more about your interests and what a good fit in the Open Knowledge community could be. Just ping me!

An other option which I quite like is setup a group call with a couple of you, get to know each other a bit and learn about each others interests and the Open Knowledge Foundation. Let me know if you are interested in this.

All the best,

Joris

Hey everyone,

I feel like I might be a bit late to the party, but I'm another new guy here on the task force. I've been involved with the OKF since 2011, when I was at the meeting in Berlin, and I've mostly been active since then in the Open Linguistics working group. Our main project is the Linked Linguistics Open Data (LLOD) Cloud, and I've been doing some work with the others on that. I've also been active in the Open Science group, and on a (very) limited basis in the Open Economics and Open Banking groups.

I'm currently finishing a double masters in Computational Linguistics at the Universities of Saarland (Germany) and Malta. I'm also a front end web developer. I'm generally interested in transparency in science, publishing, and in opening up scientific data.

You can read more about me here: http://richardlitt.github.com.

Looking forward to helping out as I can!

Best,
Richard

Hi everyone,

My name is Alex Corbi, i am a spanish freelance mobile developer based in Berlin since 2009. Together with my girlfriend i am currently preparing a worldtrip which should begin in July. Along our journey we are commited to realise the project described in the document you can find under the following URL:

http://alexcorbi.com/pdf/project/project_dossier_workshop.pdf

I got to know about the OKF some months ago, and since then, i have been thinking about ways to combine my passions and programming skills with some social initiative. In the last months and after researching for the project i am willing to run i feel the fields of open data and knowledge sharing can be something i could imagine myself working on.

That's why i wanted to introduce myself here, introduce my project, and since it consists mainly on meeting people and collectives around the globe acting to support knowledge sharing, study the possibility of some kind of collaboration with some of the projects and participants of the OKF around the world.

Best regards,

Alex Corbi

Dear all

I'm Celya. I launched a few months ago a project called hackYourPhd. It brings together a diverse community of doctoral researchers, designers and social entrepreneurs around the issues of Open Science and OpenKnowledge.

HackYourPhd wants to show that new ways of doing reseasrch exist, and can only benefit research itself as well as the relationship between science and society.

We have organized yet several workshops in Paris about open science. The next one will be a workshop about

Workshop “The new practices of scientific evaluation

We are close to OKFN members in France and also in the UK ( We are  HackYourPhD connector in several countries but we are mostly based in Paris).

I'm also part of the OuiShare community (open Knowledge connector)

I hope to meet you soon and see how i can help you..

Hi everyone,

It's a pleasure to meet you all. I'm a researcher working on cooperation between social movements using IT, mostly but not exclusively in the MENA region. I heard about OKFN through the IATI project.

Hello everyone,

So many great interests that people have, am much impressed!

So, I'm a information/interaction/visualisation designer ( < sorry, I wish there was just one title for these things... ) and open society enthusiast, from Denmark+Czech Republic+Sweden, based in Helsinki, working as a research assistant at the Aalto University.
I've been involved with the Finnish open data/society bunch since a few years, and also with OKFN Finland, to the point that I was one of the coordinators of the Datajournalism + Datavisualisation topic stream at the Open Knowledge Festival 2013.

While interested in many facets of opening society, particularly democratic and knowledge developing ones, perhaps my own strongest sides are with my professional interests. But again, I'm open to all suggestions - the open ones tend to be interesting in all forms :)
( If it's any help, besides being in touch with the Finnish open data folks, I can also read/write/speak Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian, and be in touch with those folks :)

Thanks and looking forward to being in further contact!

miska
