3/2/09

Members present: Georgie Rasco, Paul R. Thompson, Patricia Miller, TJ

Meeting called to order at 7:25 by Latricia Olmstead

Guests: Tammy Ince, Chris Plante, Jennifer McLaughlin, Evan Hamilton,
Pam Crawford, Mike Adams, Nicky Adams

Motion by Steve Thompson, second by Corey Kehn, to revisit the one day
Pride celebration to before the committee reports. Sally Blevins
moved to close discussion and it was seconded by Keith Kimmel. Motion
passed. Original motion failed.

Ryan Smith moved to approve the agenda as otherwise amended. Keith
Kimmel seconded the motion and it passed.

Secretary's report: Motion made by Sally Blevins, with second by
Patricia Miller, to approve the minutes as amended. Motion passed.

Treasurer's report: Patricia Miller, TJ McKinsey, and Dee met and
created the report that was asked for at the previous meeting. It was
noted that names of vendors and donors were left off the report.
Patricia will redo the report and bring it to the next meeting.

Financial statement was reviewed. Motion by Keith Kimmel, with second
by Sally Blevins, to accept treasurer's report with sincere thanks.
Motion passed. Written financial statement will be attached to
minutes.

Co-chair report: no report

Festival: Scott Jaggers moved to reconsider the vote to have a 1 day
celebration. Second was by Miles Tompkins. Motion passed. Motion
was made by Ryan Smith with second by Hunter Phillips to have a 2 day
festival. Motion passed. Miles Tompkins made a motion that any
further discussion about the festival or parade be done in committee
and brought to the board at each meeting. Ryan Smith seconded the
motion and it passed. TJ McKinsey thanked the membership for
reconsidering and changing the festival back to 2 days. She has now
contacted all the vendors for the last 3 years. Jack Malysa reminded
the audience that some people don't have a lot of time to volunteer
but can donate in other ways. Nathan Thompson works for Convergys and
said that his company needs the info on the packages ASAP.

Parade: Paul is going to contact Kelly Carter-Scott to try to talk
her into coming back. The membership wanted Paul to convey to Kelly
that they really would like her to come back and be in charge of the
parade. John Beebe wanted to know if we are going to have the parade
on Saturday so he can get in contact with some celebrities agents
regarding being the Grand Marshall. It was moved by Ryan Smith,
seconded by Keith Kimmel, to have a block party on Friday, June 26th,
the festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 27th and June 28th, and have
the parade on Sunday evening, June 28th. Motion passed.

Volunteers/Membership: Volunteer sign up sheet is being passed
around. The 39th Street Strip committee sign up sheet is being passed
around. Miles apologized for not getting information out to the
membership regarding their rights and privileges.

T-shirt/Fundraising: Sonja Martinez is hosting a fundraiser Friday,
March 20 at Partners at 9 pm. Dean Crawford was in contact with Nick
Post about selling jello shots at The Copa on weekends. More
information will be forthcoming. Nick Post also indicated he might be
willing to sponsor the after parade cleanup. Dean will be getting
back to him with more information on that issue. Scott Jaggers and
Ryan Smith indicates they have some contacts that we can get bids from
for t-shirts. Paul Henrion, a realtor, has pledged to donate a
portion of his commission from anyone who buys a home through him
between now and the festival.

Public Relations—committee met on 2/23. Resources, needs, budget, and
responsibilities were all topics of discussion. They would like to
compile a database. We need to do a huge PR blitz. The committee
also discussed having a Pride spokesperson. A suggestion for that
person was Pastor Neill Spurgin. They also discussed the possibility
of a newsletter. It was moved by Miles Tompkins, second by Dean
Crawford to appoint Hunter Phillips as chair of the PR committee.
This was just a board vote. Motion passed.

Website/database: GLBT database is for nonprofits only. Send any
info about official OKC Pride events to Guy Peters at
guyp...@gmail.com or in...@okcpride.org and he will put it on the
website.

Teen/Student: met on 2/23. Rachel Sullivan is trying to form a GSA
group at her school. She is networking with other groups. It was
moved by Miles Tompkins, with second by Dean Crawford, to appoint
Jessica Cook as chair of the Teen/Student committee. This was just a
board vote. Motion passed. The next meeting is 3/9 at 7 pm. The PR
committee will meet directly after that meeting at 8 and both will be
at the IHOP at Belle Isle.

Old Business

1)meeting place—keith Kimmel will investigate other hotels for our
meetings. The next meeting will be 3/16/09 at the Days Inn at 7:00
pm.
2)Elections—Nominations for 7 board positions were opened. The
nominees were Kirk Martin, Sally Blevins, John Gibbons, Dustin Green,
David Smith, David Templeton, Steve Thompson, Jessica Cook, Ryan
Smith, and Scott Jaggers. Steve Thompson withdrew his name from the
list. Ryan Smith made the motion to close nomination. It was
seconded by Corey Kehn and passed. The membership voted and the new
board members are Kirk Martin, John Gibbons, Dustin Green, David
Smith, Jessica Cook, Ryan Smith, and Scott Jaggers.
3)Interpride membership—Patricia Miller will email the budget to Guy
Peters and he will investigate what it will cost to be a member of
Interpride.

New Business

1)It was moved by Dean Crawford, second by Miles Tompkins, to appoint
Keith Kimme as the bylaws committee chair. This was just a board
vote. Motion passed.
2)Motion by Miles Tompkins with a second to send a thank you card to
Rod Davidson for participating as parliamentarian at a previous
meeting. Motion passed.

Announcements

Patricia Miller is engaged

The Westboro Baptist Church was in Moore and OKC demonstrating and
around 2000 people turned out to demonstrate against them.

Motion to adjourn by Jessica Cook with second by Jamie Mayo. Motion
passed.
